Call for the Grey Squirrel Cull?

Yeah, half tempted to post this for discussion, but I can kind of guess exactly how the conversation will go and finally peter-out. A London Townie has got so fed up with the nice approachs to discouraging Grey Squirrels, that they have concluded that the nice approach just does not work, and they want the lot killed.

As always, I don’t promote hunting for the pleasure of it. Do so if you have call to do it, and use all that you can and offer to those that you can’t use.

Anyhoo, DeathtoGreySquirrels.com wants your support. I’m not saying nothin’.

Although I do vaguely remember reading a forum post about a gentleman that did hunt Grey Squirrels, as he considered them out-of-balance in his area, he did eat what he could, and left those that he couldn’t, for Badgers and Foxes.

    You just can’t go around killing innocent little creatures – okays so they are a pest, and they have reduced the red squirrel population which is very sad. But they are still innocent, it’s not as if they have set out do kill things off – like the people who want to hunt them!!!!!!
    It’s not as if people are starving and their only food is squirrel – leave them alone!!!!! Evil squirrel killers!
    Squirrels are cute :)

    So, do we only leave the cute animals alone? What about destroying wasp’s nests? Is that ok? Or woodworm infestations?

    I don’t ask to troll or to cause trouble. I just want to get behind the mindset of cute animals being worthy of protection, and noncute animals not.

    A Massive cull is required even in Towns like ours.Since I moved here there has been a dramatic drop in the garden bird population in line with the rise in the population of Grey Squirells.I saw them take all of the Robin babies last time plus the Crow lost all of its eggs to them .That in a very small area .
