Some of the folks who know my history with computers will know that I’m (almost ashamedly) responsible for starting the UK’s first Quake Clan. The Clan, Terminal Gibbage, originally consisted of myself and a couple of workmates (Anthrax, and Morph). It started off slow, until I was approached by an enthusiastic character named ‘Jester‘, we got talking about the iminent release of QuakeWorld, and both wanted to hit the scene running…
Jester convinced me that the Clan’s original, happy-go-lucky style to camaraderie would attract like minded people, who just wanted to meet up with fellow Quake/QuakeWorld players, and shoot-the-shit out of them… Online — of course.
I created a web site (TG Page), which unfortunately is no longer in existence, and does not appear in the Way Back Machine, but there is a ‘newer’ version there.
We hung out in IRC on #tg, and we participated in multiple Leagues, including the UKCL (United Kingdom Clan League), we had a skin in the QuakeWorld Skin Pack (called “terminal”).
Unfortunately, I can’t find a full roster, but the names that spring to mind are Grim, Ruiner, Onyx, Interphaz, Scanman, DocTee, Jester, Illusion, Nutz, Odyssey, Unzip, and Kami.Kaze.
And here’s Jester’s initial announcement that TG had opened its doors:
The UK based Quake clan Terminal Gibbage is now recruiting. We are prepared to give anyone a chance to prove there worth. Be warned we’re not just a clan who are just in it for the sake of being a clan. We are a group of serious Die-Hard Quake players and we are looking for gamers of the same nature.

If you were a member of TG, or have any images/demo material of the clan, I’d be interested in receiving it… I feel a re-union LAN party coming on :D

On-line Quake…nooooooooooo!
This was the thing that convinced me to get an internet account, after seeing a workmate playing for hours on-line.
But I was seriously addicted, with lots of practise when the rest of the house was asleep, and hours of playing on-line. I joined a clan, a borg clan, which just made it worse.
Ended up with me formatting the system and throwing the game disk away. :)

Well, this was another famous Time Sink for me, but I didn’t throw the disks away. Infact, I’ve been an avid supporter (not Fanboi) of id Software ever since. They produce, and franchise games that I purchase without even reading reviews, because I’m that confident of what to expect.
I’ve been toying around, and come the 22nd of October, I decided to mark the occassion, I’ll be releasing a re-skinned multiplayer model modification for Quake4. Here’s a screenshot.

Holy crap, dude. That was pretty freaky bumping into each-other on a server. I’m serious though, we should see who we can get in-touch with, and do a “Where are they now?” re-union deathmatch :)

Blimey, whilst trying to track down Jester, I stumbled across another of his posts, with an even earlier mention of the clan.
Edit: And THIS, The history of TeeGee according to Onyx :D

Chris (ScanmaN)
I bet you can spot the person who doesn’t check their emails that often, well yes thats me! My eyes nearly popped out when I read Yibble’s message, 10 years since I first started playing team games with my old pals in TG, I can still remember the games like they were yesterday!
It’d be good to catch up with you all, see what you’ve been up to over the past 10 years, thats a lot of catching up!
I think DocTee still hangs out in #quake2.uk on irc if you’re still trying to locate people although I could be wrong.

Don’t forget Ravvy in your searches!.
Alough i wont be able to attend any RL reunion (you are all welcome to come to the one i am hosting at my Beachside retreat on the East coast of Thailand), i’m up for a bit of online nostalgia - and it should be more fun now Jester has past puberty ;)

Good to hear from you! Ravvy is on my list, but so far I’ve no leads on the man. I do have leads for Grim, and Illusion. Let me know if you’ve got old e-mail addresses for folks, etc.
Yay! \o/

:) need an IRC channel, #TG is taken. #qw-oaps is however, available.
I found some stuff online a few months ago, NFTF i think - the Odyssey incident and other such malarky…the terminus was up about 8 months ago - well at least found some place hosting my 100% effi game on titam2 (or was it andro9?)
And please, lets NOT do a TG memorial site, where we have to discuss the origins of our nicks, I would not like to give Lee the pleasure of repeating his comment again. Ever.

We have #teegee on QuakeNet ;)
Oooh, have you got any links to the stuff you found. I’d be interested in demos, etc.
TG memorial site!? Hah. Why do I invisage a greek style cemetary with Quake Models as Angels, and epitaphs such as, “One Rocket Jump too far.”

Hello everyone!
A chance meeting with Yibble on IRC has led me here. I’m still playing a bit of UT2004 online (as TG-Olli can confirm). The bad news is I _still_ don’t have an internet connection as fast as the one I did ten years ago! Damn LPS eh!
Now to see if I can get QW running on Ubuntu…
