Well, I was just going to capture a FoF movie, and upload it to YouTube for my cousin to see, as we seem to both like Guitar Hero style games… I went and got my personal best for Killing in the Name (on easy)

I finally set aside some time to resolve my EMS USB II interface issues under Feisty Fawn. It was a lot easier than I anticipated. Thankfully, a patch has already been produced, so it was simply a case of compiling a replacement module.

Contrary to my initial belief, the issue does not lie in joydev, but in the usbhid module instead. I’ll summarise the steps I took to remedy this here, just in case anyone finds it of use (comment if you do.)

Last night, I upgraded from Edgy to Feisty. Wow! What a simple, problem free upgrade process that was. I’m thoroughly impressed. It even determined that I needed the restricted Nvidia drivers, when previously I was using Nvidia Beta drivers from a third party repository.

I have only ran into one issue. That’s using my Guitar Hero PS2 controller with my EMS USB convertor. It seems that the joydev module in the current stock Linux Kernel is slightly broken, as detailed on Ubuntu’s bug tracking system, and on Kerneltrap. Now it should just be a case of keeping my eyes peeled for any fixes. Oh well :|
