Just photo-blogging nonsense.

Have a Smile!

Smiley!!!

This little man thinks you’re very funny. You must be pulling an incredibly strange face to get this response from Austin! Yes, this is Austin at about eight weeks old, smiling his way through life, and giggling his way through sleep. :)

Well. I’m a happy bunny. After having a thoroughly busy day at work, I was cheered up in the last five minutes when I received a request for re-use of one of my Flickr Photographs. Namely, the “Foot of the Great Pyramid.”

The request was from The World and I Online, “… an interdisciplinary resource that encompasses a broad range of articles by scholars and experts in their fields. [...] Over 500,000 students and teachers across America and abroad enjoy the top-quality materials that WorldandISchool.com provides.”

I have agreed, with terms very similar to the original Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License v2.0. I just thought I’d share that with you all :)

I took a bit of time out today to experiment with a fake tilt shift technique in the GIMP. I took one of the city-scape photographs of New York (from our January trip), and applied the effect.

I think they’ve come out quite well, like a aeriel photograph of a large scale model. The first uses a Gaussian blur, whilst the second uses a Focal blur, each has their own unique atmosphere.

On another note, I saw a movie today of a guy rapping, called Monzy he’s kind of in a genre called Nerdcore. Also check out Futuristic Sex Robotz :D

This is my first High Dynamic Range (HDR) photograph. It was created
using three photographs of varying exposures (EV1) using an Olympus
E-500. The photographs were then turned into a HDR image and Tone
Mapped entirely using Free and Open Source Software.

The subject/composition isn’t very imaginative, as I don’t yet own a tripod, so it’s what the nearest table was looking at :D

I intend to invest in a tripod in a week’s time, so expect many more HDR images as I play and experiment with this medium.

Nature’s Special Effects

I’m just trying out something with my Flickr account, namely the ‘Blog This’ button. Whenever I find a photograph in Flickr that warrants a blog entry. I just tap that button, and type some text, and *whoosh*

I chose this particular photo to test with because it’s an excellent composition with some searing light effect. Enjoy!

Hi all. Mrs. yibble and I are back from our holiday in Cornwall. Yup, that’s why we’ve had no podcast for a little bit, ‘cos we haven’t been here! That’s also why we’ve not been on our usual Internet haunts, we couldn’t find a WiFi network to ‘visit’ ;)

We’ve got some great photographs up on our Flickr account, showing some of our visit to Tintagel, Trebarwith, Bude, Wadebridge, Padstowe, and Camelford. Tintagel was the launchpad for our assault into the rest of Cornwall. We visited (amongst others) Tintagel Castle, Slaughterbridge, and Saint Nectan’s Glen. Here’s a spattering of photographs for the very, very lazy.

In other news. I’ve come back to interesting finances :) Nothing to worry about, just something that I need to deal with before it gets funky. I’m going to be cutting some various bills, one of those is going to affect the DruidWiki. I’m going to move back to cheaper hosting, which won’t support the software required to keep the DruidWiki running. As it’s not used anyway, I’m going to terminate the project, for reason’s already mentioned on this blog. I will continue to maintain the domain, and protect the material licensed to the DruidWiki.

Anyhoo, It’s good to be back :D

Well, after some debacle over lost packages from an eBay auction, and a nice seller actually sending replacement items on my word alone. I’ve finally gotten a set of filters to get me started. A diffusion filter, circular polarising, and a UV filter. UV filter being the most used, and also acting as a bit of protection for the lens of my camera. I’m pretty impressed. Here’s a picture I took today, whilst walking back through Stony Stratford, from lunch…

No rant here, it’s not that type of whittlin’ I’m on about. With Spring taking hold, it’s almost the bow-making season. Well, for me it is, I find a bow best made with plenty of space, and at least with a little warmth in the hands. I’ve got one definate commission to get to work on, and two tentatives. I’ll post more details, and photographs as and when.

For today, I’ve been out and about in the local area little with the camera catching some early spring moments. What do you think?
